Robin Meade usually brings a pal or two to her regular performances at Eddie’s Attic.
But for two holiday editions of her “Round Robin” appearances, Meade enlisted the country-rockin’ pros in Sixwire.
At the first of a pair of concerts at Eddie's Attic Friday night, the effervescent host of HLN's "Morning Express," who has long cultivated a secondary career in music ( last holiday season she spent a couple of weeks in Las Vegas performing with Human Nature ), treated the full house to a zippy set.
The five-piece Sixwire – fronted by Andy Childs and given great visibility as Rayna James’ (Connie Britton’s) band on “Nashville” – is a taut unit proficient in soaring harmonies.
The band performed a couple of their own songs, notably “From the Ashes” and a duet with Meade called “Sexy Santa” which will appear on Sixwire’s upcoming Christmas EP (“It Must Be Christmas,” set for digital release very soon).
Meade and the guys clearly had a blast on stage as they ripped through “Run Rudolph Run,” Meade’s “Put My High Heels On” from her first album, “Brand New Day,” and a stellar, visceral version of Fleetwood Mac’s “Rihannon.”
But a highlight for many in the crowd was Meade's sincere tribute to Alex Cooley, the legendary Atlanta concert promoter – and co-owner of Eddie's Attic – who died earlier this week .
