Colt Ford, the country-rock-rap singer from Athens, will perform at free show to christen Live! at the Battery Atlanta on May 12.

The singer, who just released his sixth solo album, “Love, Hope, Faith,” will help celebrate the grand opening of PBR Atlanta, a cowboy bar named for the Professional Bull Riders Association (yes, they have a mechanical bull).

The event is open to fans 21 and older; music will begin with a DJ at 6 p.m.

In addition to his own work – Ford wrote the theme song “Buck ‘Em” for the PBR Association – Ford co-wrote “Dirt Road Anthem” with fellow Georgian Brantley Gilbert, which landed on Gilbert’s 2010 album “Halfway to Heaven” and turned into a massive hit for Macon native Jason Aldean on his 2010 “My Kinda Party Album.”

Ford's new album includes guest shots from Toby Keith, Brad Paisley and Charles and Josh Kelley.

The new Live! entertainment complex that anchors The Battery Atlanta will host other concerts this summer on the nearby “Spanish steps” and near the Plaza and Right Field Gate of SunTrust Park.
