Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger will soon have surgery to remove a cyst on his voice box, causing the cancellation of the band’s summer tour.

Nickelback was scheduled to perform at Aaron’s Amphitheatre at Lakewood on Aug. 29. Refunds are available at point of purchase. Internet and phone orders through Ticketmaster will be automatically refunded.

The band canceled shows over the weekend with the hope that rest would help Kroeger’s voice, but a more serious diagnosis was determined.

“I am sorry I have to interrupt the party this summer and I am definitely not thrilled with the prospect of being silent for many weeks to come when I could be out there playing for our fans,” Kroeger said in a statement. “I am relying on my doctor and his team to help get my voice back in good form as quickly as possible.”

The “No Fixed Address” tour is expected to resume on Sept. 30 in Finland. Nickelback plans to return for a North American tour in 2016.
