A local music festival will honor late rapper Shawty Lo with the help of the group founded by the Atlanta rapper in the early 2000s.
The A3C Festival and Conference will honor the rapper, who died in a fiery car accident in September, with the help of "Laffy Taffy" group D4L. The Atlanta group included Lo, Fabo, Mook-B and Stoney.
D4L released one album, "Down For Life," in 2005. The project featured the Billboard Hot 100 chart-topping hit "Laffy Taffy," along with popular snap music anthem "Betcha Can't Do It Like Me."
Lo released a solo album, "Units in the City," in 2008. The album featured singled "Dunn Dunn," "Foolish" and "Dey Know."
Popular musicians, including Beyonce, T.I. and Young Jeezy, have paid tribute to Lo in recent weeks by playing "Dey Know" during their concerts.
A3C Festival and Conference officially began on Oct. 5, but performances for the event start today (Oct. 7) at 4 p.m. The Shawty Lo tribute is scheduled to take place today at 7:30 p.m. in Old 4th Ward.
Young Dolph, Rick Ross, Bun B, Too $hort, 21 Savage and Master P are also scheduled to perform during festival this weekend.
