The big stages during the 31 days of jazz performances throughout May will be filled this weekend at Piedmont Park.
The Atlanta Jazz Festival, now in its 41st year, will take place from 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, with music being performed across three stages in the park.
The free festival features headliners Dianne Reeves on Saturday and Jon Batiste with The Dap-Kings (formerly Sharon Jones' backup crew) on Sunday. Other performers include the Tia Fuller Quartet, The Bad Plus, Jazzmeia Horn, Cory Henry & The Funk Apostles and Shayna Steele.
A few reminders if you’re heading to the annual gathering:
- Don't park in the neighborhood without the required pass, or you will be towed. The closest MARTA stations are Midtown and Arts Center and Lyft will have a drop-off/-pick-up area. For the bikers, Atlanta Bicycle Coalition will have a free bike valet station on 10th Street, near Park Tavern.
- No pets, but the Piedmont Park Dog Park will be open as usual.
- Outside food is welcome. Grilling and glass products are not.
