Metro Atlantans are driving more — 17,937 miles per year, on average —  eclipsing pre-recession levels .

And while transportation and gas are typically a household's second-largest expenses , cheap gas prices are easing the pressure on household budgets.

The average price for a gallon of regular gasoline in Atlanta is $1.88, but some places have more competitive prices than others.

GasBuddy.com analyzed fuel retailers across the country to determine the chains with the cheapest gas.

Costco was found to provide the greatest value in the country with gas costing 19.75 cents less than the competition. The retailer had the cheapest gas in 13 states, including Georgia.
