Following the imposition of a new fee on electric vehicles and elimination of a $5,000 state tax credit, sales of electric vehicles in Georgia have taken a nose-dive.

AJC Politifact Reporter Nancy Badertscher reported on Sunday that after a $200 registration fee took effect on July 1, new electric car registrations in Georgia fell 89 percent. They went from 1,338 in June, the last month that the tax credit was available, to 148 in August.
