Construction will prompt long-term lane closures, traffic shifts and travel delays on U.S. 41/ Ga. 3/ Northside Drive in Atlanta starting today.

Weather permitting, Georgia Department of Transportation contractors will close the southbound lane of Northside Drive from Channing Drive to Springlake Drive. The northbound lane of Northside Drive will also be closed from Kingswood Lane to West Wesley Road starting on Monday.

Both lane closures will allow workers to start digging for water line installation. Motorists should be cautious while driving in the area. The closures are expected to last about eight months, said Annalysce Baker-Wilson, a spokeswoman for GDOT.
