The city of Atlanta this week announced a partnership with the social navigation app Waze to share information about real-time construction, crashes, road closures and slow-downs.
The data-sharing partnership is aimed at assisting the city reduce traffic congestion.

Information collected through Waze will allow municipal leaders to evaluate changing road conditions and respond accordingly.
“My administration is committed to reducing traffic congestion through the expansion of transit and a full range of transportation options, traffic light synchronization projects and the improvement of city roads, bridges and sidewalks," said Mayor Kasim Reed in a statement. "Through this partnership, we will be better positioned to support additional viable solutions, promoting a better quality of life.”
The Waze Connected Citizens Program has three other partners in Georgia -- Bartow County and the cities of Johns Creek and West Jackson. Other partners in the Southeast include the cities of Charlotte and Raleigh, N.C., and the cities of Miami and Tampa, Fla., as well as the Florida Department of Transportation. Around the world, there are 58 partners.
