Enough with the selfies, says the Cannes Film Festival.

Festival director Thierry Fremaux and president Pierre Lescure have outlawed the practice saying it slows things down and diminishes the experience.

In an interview with le f ilm francai s magazine, Fremaux called disparaged the selfie as the lowest of art forms.

Here in freedom-loving America, we don't ban selfies, as Ellen DeGeneres and friends illustrated during the 2014 Academy Awards.

Cannes also will end early press screenings, so reporters will have to view films avec tout le monde.

The festival is held May 8-19.
