Bowie died overnight Sunday, just days after his 69th birthday and the release of his 25th album, "Blackstar."
“While many of you will share in this loss, we ask that you respect the family’s privacy during their time of grief,” a statement on his official Facebook page read.
The art-pop music passed away following an 18-month battle with cancer. Reaction from the music community was swift and heartfelt.
