Dolly Parton's autobiographically inspired "Coat of Many Colors," which was set in Tennessee but filmed here in metro Atlanta, was a huge hit on the small screen.

Now comes word that "Coat of Many Colors 2" is filming here next this summer.

We haven't seen this pop up on Parton's imdb site or web site yet, but there's a casting call for extras:

Subject: COMC BABY; Rate: $120/8 each child. Filming will be July 18th-Aug 12th. Should have open availability, but you will only work SOME of these days.

We are seeking Caucasian kids between the ages of 6-9 years old. This is for boys and girls. If you can submit in '1950's poor country clothes and hairstyles', it will definitely be a HUGE plus and increase your chances! Make sure to include your name and current phone number when submitting your child.

Subject: SCHOOL KIDS; Rate $120/8. Filming will be July 18th-Aug 12th. Should have open availability, but you will only work SOME of these days."

The original NBC project starred Alyvia Alyn Lind, who appeared in the locally shot Adam Sandler-Drew Barrymore comedy "Blended," as young Dolly Parton. Country star Jennifer Nettles played Dolly's mom and Ricky Schroder played her dad. It filmed in Covington, east of Atlanta.

The hit song from 1971 tells the story of how Parton’s mother stitched her a coat from rags because the family was too poor for store-bought finery. Although Parton treasured the coat, inspired by the biblical story of Joseph and his coat of many colors, her song laments that other kids would laugh and make fun of her homemade garment.

“My life and this little story ‘Coat of Many Colors’ is very personal to me,” Parton, who grew up in a family of 12 children, said in a statement. “I’m from a big ole family and we all loved one another.”
