North American Properties (NAP) has announced that restaurant designer and creator of MF Sushi , Alex Kinjo, will open two new concepts, MF Bar and District 3, in the second phase of Avalon, the mixed-use development in Alpharetta.

According to todays's press release, MF Bar will expand on menu favorites from the MF restaurants in Houston and Inman Park, focusing on hot and cold small plates, including  sushi rolls and nigiri. MF Bar will also include a beverage menu featuring "perfectly paired cocktails "and a wide selection of sake.

District 3 will feature "modern yet authentic Vietnamese fare in a casual, stylish environment, catering to the lunch and dinner crowds at Avalon. The menu is inspired by Kinjo’s parents’ hometown in Vietnam, Vung Tau, an area with heavy French colonial influence. Kinjo visited Vietnam to build the one-of-a-kind menu and bring something new and refreshing to Atlanta’s Vietnamese dining scene."

In a 2015 Personal Journeys feature, former AJC dining critic, John Kessler, chronicled the good times and bad times of restaurateurs Alex and Chris Kinjo and their MF Sushi empire , which once included MF Buckhead, their 8,000-square-foot restaurant in Buckhead's Terminus Atlanta tower.
