Support museum that supports Georgia art
The Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia (MOCA GA) will hold its annual MOCA Gala Art Auction fund-raiser from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Saturday, featuring more than 100 works by invited top Georgia artists.
In the Buckhead museum’s newly expanded Education/Research Center gallery, work by 20 Georgia artists will go on the block in a live auction (at 8 p.m.), while 80-plus works will be available for bidding in the silent auction through a mobile platform or MOCA GA computer.
Atlanta attorney James Landon, a 12-time MOCA Gala auctioneer, will return in the role and also serve as honorary chair, honoring his history of arts support.
Tickets, for $150, include a full bar and buffet. Scan the long list of participating artists and find online bidding details at www.mocaga.org. 75 Bennett St., Atlanta. 404-367-8700.

$10,000 grant focuses on audience growth
The Atlanta-based nonprofit Crusade for Art is accepting applications for its second Crusade Engagement Grant. The grant awards $10,000 for the most innovative idea to build audiences for photography. It will be given to an individual photographer or group with the best plan for increasing his/their audience and collector support.
Deadline: April 17. Information: www.crusadeforart.org/crusade-engagement-grant.
The inaugural grant went to Pittsburgh photographer Matthew Conboy, who, through a program called Start With Art, is giving an original, signed photograph from local artists to every baby born in an area hospital this year. West Penn Hospital newborns already were receiving a Pittsburgh Steeler "Terrible Towel." Now they depart with the beginning of an art collection, too.
