Children’s Museum to reopen Dec. 12, and a look at two coming exhibits

Closed since August for an $8.2 million renovation, the Children’s Museum of Atlanta is announcing Thursday that it will reopen on Dec. 12.

A participatory parade near the Centennial Park attraction and ribbon-cutting ceremony are being planned for the opening day celebration.
When it reopens, the Children’s Museum will feature two additional permanent exhibits, a new 3,000-square-foot mezzanine level, enhanced existing galleries and a permanent performance space for the Museum’s Imaginators performance troupe.
Meanwhile, while work continues, the museum is launching a Play Pledge ATL campaign online to encourage Atlantans to play creatively and then challenge others to do the same and share their activities on social channels with #playpledgeatl.
