The largest temporary outdoor art exhibit in the Southeast takes place again this fall when Art on the Atlanta Beltline brings an alfresco showing of more than 100 works of visual and performance art.

Kicking off on Sept. 12 with the annual Atlanta Beltline Lantern Parade, the exhibit will bring painters, sculptors, dancers, musicians and others from the U.S. and around the world to enliven this Atlanta landmark.

The Beltline is a 22-mile loop of mostly unused railroad tracks that encircle the center of the city. They are gradually being transformed into a series of paths, trails and green-spaces.

Among the artists to be featured in this exhibit is sculptor Charlie  Brouwer and contemporary dance collective Fly on a Wall.

From September through November visual installations and performances will be concentrated in the following sections of the Beltline:

On the northern Eastside interim hiking trail between Montgomery Ferry Road and Monroe Drive.

On the Eastside Trail between Monroe Drive and Irwin Street.

On the southern Eastside interim hiking trail between Kirkwood Avenue and Memorial Drive in Reynoldstown

The schedule of performances hasn't yet been announced, but you can expect to see performances on September 12, 13, 19, and 20 and October 10 and 11.
