Delta Air Lines employees are telling their stories through oral history project StoryCorps, as the company prepares for its CEO changeover Monday.
Richard Anderson, who announced his retirement earlier this year, is being succeeded by Ed Bastian as CEO of Delta, effective May 2.
During the month of April, Delta through a marketing partnership invited StoryCorps and its mobile booth to its headquarters near Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport to document the stories of Bastian, incoming president Glen Hauenstein and other employees as it marks the transition for the company.
The accounts include the story of a couple who met on a Delta flight and eventually married, and a member of Delta's Honor Guard who talks about his work honoring the remains of fallen military members.
StoryCorps -- most familiar to people through its weekly NPR segments -- is a nonprofit that has collected more than 60,000 interviews since 2003. The audio recordings are archived at the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress.
