There is plenty to do this weekend, no matter your speed or style. From a party at Nappy Roots’ new Atlanta brewery to a night of action at the roller derby, check out these five events to liven up your summer.

Party with the Past

Start your weekend early by attending the Atlanta History Center’s Party with the Past series on Thursday night at Atlantucky Brewing. This event will look into Nappy Roots’ roots and brewing in Atlanta’s most recent venture, one of the city’s newest Black-owned breweries.

Location: Downtown - 170 Northside Dr SW suite 96; Time: 7-10 p.m.; Date: Thursday, July 7; Admission: Free; Website: atlantahistorycenter.com.

Fernbank After Dark

It’s time for another night of Fernbank After Dark! The theme of this Friday’s event is “the odd, peculiar, and sometimes just plain wackiness in nature.” Tracksuit Mafia will perform live music, and there will be plenty of other after-hours activities for adults, such as outdoor explorations, museum exhibits, full bars, tapas and science demonstrations.

Location: Druid Hills - 767 Clifton Rd; Time: 7-11 p.m.; Date: Friday, July 8; Admission: $24.95; Website: fernbankmuseum.org.

Coffee & Chrome

If you want to spend your Saturday morning looking at hotrods and drinking free coffee, then make your way to this festival in Hapeville’s Jess Lucas Park. The event is free to attend, but bringing and registering a show car allows you to win fantastic prizes such as Georgia Aquarium tickets and Porsche gear.

Location: Hapeville - 3585 Atlanta Avenue, Hapeville, 30354; Time: 8:30 a.m. to noon; Date: Saturday, July 9; Admission: Free; Website: hapeville.org.

Roller Derby double-header

If you’re looking for something a little more intense — and very entertaining — roll yourself on down to the Yaarab Shrine Temple for the Roller Derby Pride July Doubleheader on Saturday. While roller derby is a family-friendly event, the athletes do play rough and so there are some seating restrictions for young fans (for safety reasons).

Location: Midtown - 400 Ponce De Leon Ave NE; Time: 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.; Date: Saturday, July 9; Admission: $18 for one or $30 for the doubleheader; Website: atlantarollerderby.com.

Catch Joey Bada$$ at Underground Atlanta

Ready to turn up on Sunday? Head over to The Masquerade to see rapper and actor Joey Bada$$ (you might recognize him as Leon in Mr. Robot) perform his hits and deep cuts. Capella Gre is opening. Tickets are $30 and doors open at 7 p.m.

Location: Downtown - 75 M.L.K. Jr. Dr. SW; Time: 7 p.m.; Date: Sunday, July 10; Admission: $29.50; Website: masqueradeatlanta.com.
