SCAD Atlanta and Savannah have joined a growing list of universities that are part of Comcast’s “Xfinity of Campus” service that provides live TV and On Demand content to students on their laptops, tablets and smartphones.
The cable giant said that SCAD students can now watch about 80 cable and network channels on their personal devices, including such networks as AMC, Bravo, Comedy Central, ESPN and FX. The service is included as part of students tuition.

Comcast is offering “Xfinity On Campus” to a handful of colleges around the country, including at Morehouse College and Tennessee State University. The idea is to reach out to millennials on their terms, which means live content on the go, not in the living room, said Comcast spokesman Alex Horwitz.
About 106 million Americans watch TV online, a number expected to grow to 145 million by next year, Comcast said.
“We are thrilled to bring Xfinity On Campus to the Savannah College of Art and Design,” Kerry McKelvey, vice president of sales and marketing for Comcast, said in a release. “The millennial consumer increasingly enjoys their live content on the go, and at their convenience, so today’s announcement will be a welcome addition to the student experience.”
