Metro Atlanta residents who want to receive the items they’ve purchased online at Best Buy the same day of their order are in luck.
The electronics giant said Thursday that Atlanta is among 13 cities in a pilot of same-day delivery for purchases made at bestbuy.com.
But there is a cost: $12 to $20 per order. And items heavier than 50 pounds — including big screen TVs — are not eligible for the “expedited” shipping, Best Buy said. Customers in eligible markets can select “same-day delivery” under expedited shipping when choosing where to send the packages.
Atlanta joins a number of cities across the country — including San Francisco, New York, Las Vegas and Miami — that are participating in the Best Buy test.
More and more retailers are considering same-day delivery as Americans have shown a desire to get packages faster and a willingness to pay for the convenience. Deliv, an online company, is helping Best Buy fulfill the deliveries.
Best Buy said orders must be placed by 3 p.m. and will be delivered by 9 p.m. Same-day delivery is not available on Sundays.
