Atlanta sometimes has faced the label of having too much “commodity” real estate, where everything looks the same.

But a development team, including Jarel Portman, a son of famed Atlanta architect and developer John C. Portman Jr., released the latest design of a proposed Buckhead condo tower that won’t look like anything Atlanta has today.
JPX Works’ project, newly christened as Emerson, will be a 21-story glass tower with floors that jut out odd angles. It’s certainly not the typical Atlanta glass wall skyscraper with balconies or stucco mid-rise apartment building.

The developers say they take Frank Lloyd Wright’s “Falling Water” as inspiration. The 44 units will be priced from $1.8 million. A sales center in Peachtree Hills is expected to open this spring with a ground breaking to follow this fall.
The team announced the concept last year and it generated some buzz.
“Jarel and I share a foundational belief that good design is good business,” said Bruce Fernald, co-founder of JPX Works. “Our Emerson concept exemplifies Atlanta’s love of beauty and heritage, but also displays the modern evolution of our city’s architectural trajectory.”

The project will be located at 2520 Peachtree Road on a 1.8-acre property near the Peachtree Battle shopping center.

“Atlantans are invested in making their neighborhoods the most exciting, vibrant areas to reside and Buckhead is certainly no exception,” Jarel Portman said. “The intention of Emerson is to inspire residents and neighbors alike, as well as improve the quality of their lives through exceptional design.”
