A long-awaited chicken eatery from the partners in Supremo Taco on Memorial Drive has debuted in East Atlanta.

Pollo Supremo opened for dinner Dec. 7 at 792 Moreland Ave. SE., a year and a half after first announcing plans to open. The space was previously home to a Blimpie sub restaurant and Bento Mac Hibachi Box Wings & Sushi.

The concise menu offers quarter, half and whole chickens, extras including rice, beans, esquites, salsas and guacamole and a selection of drinks horchata and Mexican Coke, with margaritas to come once the restaurant gets its liquor license.

The chicken, “a tribute to Sinaloan-style Pollos Asados,” according to the restaurant’s Instagram post, is marinated in morita chile, citrus and spices before being grilled. It’s a nod to the type of food co-owner Duane Kulers grew up eating in California, complete with flour tortillas to build your own tacos.

The space offers seating for about 12 indoors and a large patio with seating for about 40. A drive-thru will be added in the coming weeks.

Supremo Taco co-owners Nhan Le and Omar Ferrer are also partners in Pollo Supremo.

The restaurant is open 5-10 p.m. Tuesdays-Saturdays and 1-8 p.m. Sundays.

Kulers did not immediately return the Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s request for more information on the restaurant.
