In what many will consider questionable, the Bengals reportedly thought about playing first-round rookie John Ross at cornerback before he was placed on injured reserve, according to Pro Football Talk.

Ross had only appeared in three games in 2017 despite being a top 10 pick and setting an NFL record 40-yard dash time (4.22). He had no receptions and one rush that went for 12 yards, though it ended with a fumble.

Injuries were a question mark with Ross, but it’s unclear how much they impacted his playing time. If Cincinnati discussed moving him to a new position, apparently injuries weren’t the only red flag they identified.
