In 2015, Jussie Smollett was cast into the spotlight when the bold and highly-addictive TV drama “Empire” hit the airwaves.

The Fox series was an instant hit, garnering millions of viewers each week as fans delved deeper into the lives of the fictional Lyon family, which heads the record label Empire.

Smollett quickly became a fan favorite not only for his role as Jamal Lyon but also for his musicianship. He's been a songwriter for decades and recently released his debut album "Sum Of My Music."

During his tour to promote the 10-track project, Smollett stopped by The Masquerade in Atlanta for a performance and to chat with AJC reporter Najja Parker.
