Legislation that would legalize the limited use of medical marijuana will be introduced in the state House on Tuesday, the measure’s sponsor said.

Rep. Allen Peake, R-Macon, told colleagues he is seeking support for the measure, that would allow patients with select disorders to receive a prescription for medical cannabis that is taken orally.

Significantly, Peake said the bill will be publicly supported by the Medical Association of Georgia, the state’s largest professional group of doctors.
