Georgia 2018: Meet Stacey Abrams, Democratic nominee for governor

The race for Georgia Governor in 2018 is wide open as Gov. Nathan Deal is set to depart the office after two terms.  The Atlanta Journal-Constitution is profiling candidates. 

Stacey Abrams - She won the Democratic primary over Stacey Evans. The former House minority leader with a national profile, is looking to become the first black woman elected governor in the nation. Her campaign that aims to turn out first-time voters in overlooked parts of the state with a platform that includes boosting public education, the expansion of Medicaid and gun safety She also faces questions over her debt, which includes about $54,000 to the Internal Revenue Service. “You can delay IRS payments,” Abrams said. “You can’t delay cancer treatments.”
