Donald Trump won all but these four counties in Georgia

Cobb County

• Republican winner: Marco Rubio (35 percent)
• Democratic winner: Hillary Clinton (63 percent)

DeKalb County

• Republican winner: Marco Rubio (41 percent)
• Democratic winner: Hillary Clinton (71 percent)

Gwinnett County

• Republican winner: Donald Trump (33 percent)
• Democratic winner: Hillary Clinton (66 percent)

Fulton County

• Republican winner: Marco Rubio (41 percent)
• Democratic winner: Hillary Clinton (71 percent)

Over two million Georgia residents voted in the March 1 primary as the state became one of several Super Tuesday victories for Republican presidential frontrunner, Donald Trump.

Trump won over 38 percent of all Republican votes in Georgia, placing him well ahead of other Republican candidates.

But he didn't sweep every county.

U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio held a sizable lead over Trump and Texas U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz in four Georgia counties: Clarke, Cobb, DeKalb and Fulton.

In Cobb County, Rubio won 35 percent of the Republican vote, while Trump and Cruz won 31 and 21 percent, respectively.

Rubio spoke at Mount Paran Christian School in Cobb County days before the March 1 primary.

Rubio and Sec. Hillary Clinton won the largest share of votes in Clarke County, though Clinton won over Sanders by a much smaller margin than Rubio won over Trump.

In Georgia's Democratic primary, Clinton defeated Sen. Bernie Sanders by 44 percentage points.

While there were fewer total Democratic votes than Republican votes, Clinton had nearly 36,000 more votes than Trump in the Georgia primary.

Clinton won the largest share of Democratic votes in every Georgia county, except one: 70 people voted in Echols County in south Georgia, where Sanders won by four votes.

One of Clinton's largest victories in Georgia was in DeKalb County, where she won over Bernie Sanders by nearly 43 percentage points.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution analyzed 18 years' worth of statewide primary elections and found that DeKalb has the best record of picking winners in Democratic races.
