‘Fee and Dividend’ a good plan for sea rise
The article “Sea rise likely to accelerate” in the AJC on Tuesday provided an excellent explanation of the newest research on climate and rising sea levels. This is no longer a debate. It is time for us all to accept that climate change is real, it’s manmade, and we have to do something.
Now is also the time to join together to address the problem directly. The most balanced proposal I have heard is the “Fee and Dividend” approach, supported by conservatives. This plan is budget-neutral, promotes economic growth, and uses the free market system to create logical, economically feasible solutions.
The “Fee and Dividend” approach is only a starting point, but a good one. I think of the lovely rolling hills of the Piedmont, and I pray that we can all come together to preserve our home for the generations to come.

Poverty bigger schools problem than race
I read that the black clergy of Atlanta are against Senate Resolution 287, regarding poorly performing schools. Here’s the most effective and obvious solution to the poorly performing schools that these clergy are defending.
Have these clergy and their tax-exempt churches and congregations take over these failing schools. I’m sure these same individuals would soon find out these schools are failing due to the lack of parental involvement, undisciplined children ill-prepared for school, kids coming to school hungry and teachers not having the opportunity to teach. These are problems derived from poverty. It’s not a racial issue; it’s a socioeconomics issue.
These are all problems often associated with kids having kids, one-parent households and the lack of father figures. If the clergy would make an effort to resolve those issues, they would greatly enhance the schools’ ability and the ability of the students to succeed.
