A roundup of editorials Tuesday urges the government to drop a law that will strangle Puerto Rico’s recovery from Hurricane Maria; reminds people that Puerto Rico is an American territory and wonders why media coverage of the devastation is lacking.

Here are some opinions from the Left.

1. Puerto Rico is on the brink of a humanitarian crisis. Where is the media?

From The Guardian: Where is the mainstream media when it comes to coverage of hurricane damage in Puerto Rico? The same place they’ve been all along. .

2. The law strangling Puerto Rico

From The New York Times: You may not have heard of the Jones Act, but the nearly 100-year-old law is about to kill the island’s recovery from Hurricane Maria.

3. America’s Caribbean islands are not foreign territory

From the Gainesville Sun: Guess what? Puerto Rico is full of Americans. Mainly because it is an American territory, not a foreign country. Our politicians would do well to remember that and lead the charge to help the island.
