As the temperatures continue to drop in metro Atlanta, you may be looking for a way to keep warm in Gwinnett County.
There are better options than rubbing your hands together and wearing three sweatshirts at once. Stay indoors and have fun by trying one of these activities:
• Get your blood pumping
You don't have to subject yourself to the cold if you want to get some exercise. You can even get creative. Try a trampoline park, like SkyZone in Suwanee or Jumpstreet in Lawrenceville. The indoor facility means that you've got a comfortable temperature, and the physical activity involved in jumping on trampolines for an afternoon may get you a little hot and sweaty. If inflatables are what you're after, you can jump at Glow Galaxy, which is filled with bounce houses, blow-up slides and other attractions, all under a UV light.
• Read a book, make a craft or learn a new skill
The Gwinnett County Public Library's 15 branches have way more than just books. The libraries offer programs for kids, teenagers and adults. You can participate social groups like the Toastmasters, practice hobbies like chess or create a new keepsake in an arts and crafts class. You can find a full listing of .events and locations at the library's website.
• Play some games
You can rack up a high score at arcades all over Gwinnett County. Dave and Buster's, the national chain that also serves food and adult beverages, has locations in Lawrenceville and Duluth. Duluth also has Laser Voyage Cafe, which features not only an arcade, but a pirate-themed laser tag space. Norcross's Tiny Towne is perfect for kids; they can drive miniature cars on indoor tracks and end the day with a game of skee-ball.
• Lock yourself in a room
Escape rooms force teams of people to figure out how to open a locked room within a certain amount of time. There are puzzles, problem solving and lots of teamwork involved. Escape the Mystery Room in Lawrenceville has themed rooms including Black Ops, Hollywood Premiere and Zombie Apocalypse. At Rush Escape Room in Norcross, you can break out of a creepy cabin, a soon-to-explode laboratory or even prison.
• Strike out
Put on some suspicious looking shoes and try not to get your fingers stuck in the ball, it's time for some good old-fashioned bowling. Stars and Strikes, a bowling chain with locations in Lawrenceville and Dacula, has a day's worth of activities packed into one alley, with lanes of bowling as well as an arcade, laser tag and bumper cars. Bowlero, in Norcross, has billiards in addition to an arcade and laser tag. All three locations also serve food, so you won't have to go back into the chilly weather to grab something to eat.
