Sips on a Sam Adams and chomping on a chimichurri steak salad (or Nutella beignets) while watching Gerard Butler on screen.
If that sounds like a good way to spend a night in Marietta, you should know that Studio Movie Grill is set to open on Nov. 16.
The Dallas-based movie theater company’s 11-screen location will replace the old Sports Authority at the Harry’s Crossing Shopping Center, which is between Powers Ferry Road and I-75.
Marietta officials heard a rezoning case to make the theater at the plaza possible in January.
The 20-acre property's anchor and namesake, Harry's Farmers Market, relocated to Ernest Barrett Parkway in Kennesaw earlier in October.
“Cobb County is experiencing an economic resurgence and this center, anchored by SMG Marietta, is destined to become the melting pot for entertainment, pop culture and great food,” said owner Brian Schultz in a news release.
This will be the city’s first such dine-in theater, said Mayor Steve Tumlin.
“We are thrilled that Studio Movie Grill has chosen to expand and now have a location within the City of Marietta,” Tumlin said.
The company already has theaters in Alpharetta and Duluth.
Studio Movie Grill has released lots of details about the new Marietta space ahead of its opening.
The 48,799-square-foot building will have 1,285 seats, and the company actually said what kinds of seats — Incora VIP Recliners, so check out what your booty will be on for hours at a time here.
SMG also gave a feel of what its menu will be: ceviche lettuce wraps to start, blackened chicken with cavatappi pasta and a brownie sundae with Ghirardelli chocolate.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution would like to note that the word “popcorn” did not appear in any of the literature the company provided.
And then there’s the drinks.
The theater is promising unspecified “local craft beer” along with Stella Artois, Dos Equis, Shiner Bock (they are based in Dallas, afterall) and more. There will also be Angry Orchard.
For the boozy grape juice folks, there will be selections from Canyon Road, Cupcake, K-J Avant and Orin Swift wineries.
There will also be daily specials on food and drink.
The theater will be open Mondays through Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and 11 a.m. to midnight Fridays through Sundays.
The company said it is looking to hire 200 folks for positions like bartenders and servers to box office agents. You can apply online.
