Food prep employees at Yuan Li Restaurant in Cumming had too many code violations during a recent routine inspection, and the Chinese restaurant’s health score dropped to failing.

An employee did not wash hands before cooking, the Forsyth County health inspector said. Points were also taken off because the cook was wearing bracelets. And another food prep employee cut unwashed vegetables.

Some potentially hazardous foods were not within the safe temperature range, according to the inspection report. Chicken, pork, pasta and rice in a prep cooler were too warm and were discarded.

Yuan Li Restaurant, 5110 Browns Bridge Road, Cumming, scored 57/U, dropping from previous scores of 71/C and 76/C.

In other code violations, raw chicken was stored above ready to eat foods and raw eggs in a cooler. The foods were rearranged to prevent the risk of contamination.

Points were taken off because some foods were stored inside grocery bags. Old containers were being reused for other foods instead of being discarded.

Some containers and equipment in use were in poor condition, the inspector said. Container lids had been cut. The cutting board was in bad shape. Bowls were cracked. And the vegetable sink had a leaky faucet.

Yuan Li Restaurant will be re-inspected.

In other news: Another recently featured Forsyth County restaurant pulled up its health score during a follow-up inspection. Enzo Sushi, 3630 Peachtree Parkway, Suwanee, scored 88/B.
