Some Fulton County property owners will receive a second assessment notice, after errors were discovered in the first.

The problem affects about 300 homeowners, all of whom will receive a letter telling them to disregard their first notice. All notices posted online are correct.

Fulton County could be forced to refund thousands of homeowners millions of property tax dollars after revelations their homes were illegally overvalued.

Jessica Corbitt, a spokesperson for the county, said the errors represent a tenth of a percent of all residential property owners. The errors had to do with sales data and neighborhood designations.

All property owners have until July 6 to appeal their values. The county has so far received 80 appeals.

Last year, residents complained about property values that rose higher than they expected. This year, values continued to increase.
