The Silver Comet Trail Bridge over Noses Creek in Powder Springs will remain closed another month after heavy rains delayed repair work.

The wooden bridge has been undergoing maintenance for damaged supports and overgrown trees. It is now scheduled to reopen after March 20.

County Spokesman Ross Cavitt said the tree clearing has been completed, and crews are now in the process of replacing pile, encasing pile and pouring the concrete bridge deck.

The budget for repairs is $573,500 with funds coming from the 2016 SPLOST for infrastructure preservation.

The county warned there will be no access through the construction site while the bridge is closed and no detour available.
