With a critical MARTA vote a couple of months away, a nonprofit group is gearing up to bring the transportation referendum to the attention of Clayton County residents. The Partnership for Southern Equity is hosting a “Power of the Penny” Campaign Launch and Rally on Friday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Jonesboro Firehouse Museum and Community Center, 103 W. Mill Street in Jonesboro. Among the speakers: PSE founder Nathaniel Smith, Clayton Commission Chair Jeff Turner, commissioner Shana Rook, Riverdale Mayor Evelyn Winn-Dixon, state Transportation board member Dana Lemon and state Rep. Mike Glanton. PSE is an Atlanta-based nonprofit that works to create more balanced growth in housing, transit and economic development policies in metro Atlanta.
