Officials associated with a massive mixed-use development under construction in Fayette County on Friday broke ground on a wellness center that will be part of the project.

The 60,000-square-foot Piedmont Wellness Center at Pinewood Forest is a two-story building targeted Fayette residents wanting to set healthy lifestyle goals and will act as a bridge between medical care and wellness. It will offer fitness and rehabilitation services as well as offer tailored programs for individuals and teams in every sport.

The project is being constructed across the street from Pinewood Studios, the nation's second largest film studio, and will be completed in 2019. It is part of Pinewood Forest, a mixed-use development of homes, restaurants and hotels that is under construction over 234 acres. Pinewood Forest is expected to be completed in five to seven years.
