Hundreds attend opening of new Lilburn City Hall and library
Lilburn opened its new City Hall and library Tuesday, a move city officials hope will be a milestone for a Gwinnett County community trying to attract new development.
Several hundred people – including a slew of city and county officials – attended a ceremony dedicating the $11.3 million facility at 340 Main St. In addition to city offices, it includes a 20,000-square-foot county library.
Lilburn officials believe the project will spark new commercial and residential development along Lawrenceville Highway and Main Street.
“It starts the revitalization and the rebirth of the City of Lilburn,” City Manager Bill Johnsa said at the ceremony. “Mark this day on the calendar. Lilburn is on the rise.”
