Fulton Chairman Eaves wins final vote tally

May 24, 2014

Fulton County Commission Chairman John Eaves held on to his narrow lead in the final tally of Democratic primary votes in results released Friday night.

Eaves defeated fellow Commissioner Robb Pitts by 315 votes – or .7 percent of ballots cast – in the final tally, according to the county elections department. The department tallied more than 500 provisional and overseas mail ballots Friday.

The Fulton Board of Registration and Elections will certify the results Tuesday morning. Pitts has two days after certification to request a recount because Eaves’ margin of error is less than 1 percent. Pitts has said he’s leaning toward requesting a recount.
