Early voting has begun in Atlanta ahead of the Nov. 5 municipal elections. The Fulton County Registration and Elections Department is overseeing the early voting process for residents of both Fulton and DeKalb.

Photo identification is now required to cast a ballot, unless a resident has a voter identification card, available at the county elections office. Acceptable forms of ID include a Georgia driver’s license (even if expired), government or military ID, U.S. passport or tribal photo ID, according to the Georgia secretary of state’s website.

Those planning to vote by absentee ballot have until Nov. 1 to request the form from the Fulton elections office. (For more information, call 404-612-7060.) To get a head start on choosing Atlanta’s next mayor, City Council and Board of Education, take note of the following locations and times:

Now through Oct. 25, 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. (Monday to Friday only):

Saturday, Oct. 26, 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m., a "family voter day" with special activities to teach children about the electoral process.

Oct. 28 through Nov. 1, 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m.
