The state Department of Transportation has requested bids on daffodil bulbs.

The state spends millions planting roadside flowers. The money comes mostly from road signs that advertise highway stops, and partly from wildflower auto license plate sales.

DOT told bidders it wanted to buy bags of bulbs by the thousand, but has not said how many.  Bids are due by Nov. 17.
