A sandwich is a quick meal that can easily be made at any time of the day. There are breakfast iterations, lunchtime staples like peanut butter and jelly and ones synonymous with geographic locations like the Cubano, or Cuban sandwich, and the po'boy, which hails from New Orleans.

Georgia may not have a sandwich that bears its name, but according to a new list from Insider, there's one that is a favorite among residents.

“Pimento cheese is a southern favorite and one of the best ways to eat it is in a sandwich,” a video on Insider said. “The tanginess of the pimento peppers combined with the richness of the cheese and mayonnaise is an unbeatable combination.”

Insider compiled the list including burgers and hot dogs as well as sandwiches made famous by certain cities, including the aforementioned po’boy and Chicago's Italian beef. Other sandwiches don’t have mainstream notoriety, but “have a cult following within their state,” Insider reported.

Some of these include the Vermonter sandwich — a Vermont staple composed of maple mustard, hickory-smoked ham or turkey, sharp Vermont cheddar and Honeycrisp apples — and the Fluffernutter — a peanut butter and marshmallow fluff sandwich on soft, white bread —  that is a favorite in Massachusetts.

However, Georgians seem to prefer their sandwiches on the cheesy and tangy side with pimento cheese.

If you're looking for other ways to enjoy the southern combo, there are several variations at eateries in metro Atlanta — including fritters at 1910 Public House or a spread on Saltines at SweetWater Taproom. Recipes also vary based on the use of Dukes or Hellmann's mayo or additions like bacon and jalapenos.
