Spelman glee club joins Dance Theatre of Harlem for two performances

The Spelman College Glee Club will join the Dance Theatre of Harlem for two performances in October at the Cobb Energy Centre.

This is the first time the 75-member glee club has worked with the dance company with a rousing traditional spiritual and sacred vocals. The singers will accompany "Change" choreographed by Dianne McIntyre, a former Spelman College Distinguished Visiting Scholar. The group will also perform two Nergo spirituals, "By and By" arranged by Roland Allison and "Don't You Let Nobody Turn You Around" arranged by Kevin Johnson, director of Spelman College Glee Club.

The Dance Theatre of Harlem returns to the metro area at the Cobb Energy Centre at 8 p.m. Oct. 22 and at 3 p.m. Oct. 23. Tickets prices range from $29 to $79, plus fees. Tickets are also available by calling 1-800-800-735-3000 or the Cobb Energy Centre box office. There is also a student field trip performance at 11 a.m. Oct. 21.
