Mister Migs pet boutique's new store in Tucker gives back

What in the world is a doggy to wear? Depending on the weather and where you and your favorite four-legged friend are headed, that question can be more difficult than figuring out your own outfit.

Mister Migs is producing "Dog gear for good" and has opened a new store (2137 Flintstone Drive, Ste. E.) in Tucker for metro Atlanta dog owners that are looking for chic doggy clothing that will also allow them to give back. Made from recycled denim, leather and t-shirts, Mister Migs doggy gear is the doggy gear that gives back in more ways than one. "Using eco-friendly, discarded materials is a great way to help our environment and to involve our community in our good work too," says Mister Migs founder Karen Lynn.

A good example of the community efforts put forth by Mister Migs can be summed up by their 'Your Career Unleashed (YCU)' program, a 10-week, scholarship-based program that allows young adults (18-26) with autism and developmental disabilities to learn work skills.

"The young adults are put into real work settings," says Mister Migs vice president and executive director of YCU Mary Justman. "By working right alongside with us they see how to handle pressure and work within a team effectively." All of the handcrafted work is done at the Mister Migs design studio, also in Tucker.

The new Tucker location opened on April 8 and offers customers the same unique products they can find online at Mister-Migs.myshopify.com, in particular the Hemingway Black Tie ($95, available in sizes 9-14). The brand also offers a matching lease ($22) and celebration wine tote ($16) for a complete ensemble. The Echo Tailored Sport ($93, available in sizes 11-XS) combines the line's signature denim with a zippered pocket a removable leather studded belt. "We Love denim because it's durable and only becomes more beautiful when we wash, dye and manipulate it for the gear," says Lynn. "Having recycled and environmentally safe products gives our community and schools a way to contribute," says Justman. The denim as well as other products used for the doggy gear is donated by Individuals, schools and community organizations. The Gigi Migrubbie Floral ($45, available in sizes 10-2XS) with it's floral lining and double-layered denim fray patch gives the little lady in your life a lovely play outfit that can easily transition to a playdate.

The Tucker store will also have an on-site master tailor for complete customer satisfaction. "Mister Migs is high-quality gear that we make sure is fun and durable," says Justman. "The gear is kind of an investment piece." The investment will not only be in great gear for your loved one but a way to give back to a wonderful program. Dog gear for good indeed.
