marks 141 years

Cosmopolitan AME Church will celebrate its 141st anniversary with a series of events, beginning Feb. 12.

The theme for the three-day celebration is "141 Years of Uniting the Church, Family and Community." Events kick off at 7 p.m. Feb. 12, when community leaders will be honored for their service. At 5:30 p.m. Feb. 13, the Family Celebration Banquet will be held at the Interdenominational Theological Center Dining Hall, 700 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive N.W. Tickets are $25 for adults and $12 for children 16 and younger. Call 404-525-0168 for tickets.

The Rev. Leslie White, senior pastor of St.  Paul AME Church in Berkeley, Calif., will be the guest speaker at 11 a.m. Feb. 14. The church is located at 170 Vine St. N.W.

A chance to hear

about other faiths

Two women from the Refugee Women's Network will speak about their Hindu and Muslim faiths to adult Sunday school classes from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. on Feb. 7 and Feb. 14 at Decatur First United Methodist Church, 300 E. Ponce de Leon Ave. Satyam Barakoti and Sumaya Karimi will talk about the Refugee Women's Network and how their faiths guide their lives and work. Sessions are open to the public as room allows.
