When Nadine Faison purchased her DeKalb County home in 2005, it had sustained serious fire damage. Over the next several years, she and her former husband restored the home. After renting it out for a while, she moved in during 2011.

“We were just doing it little by little, so it took us a few years,” said Faison.

Rebuilding gave Faison the opportunity to put in custom details she really loved, like the high ceilings with wide crown molding and antique-style tubs. Her former husband did a lot of the work himself, so they got to choose details and finishings that fit their aesthetic. Since moving in, she has renovated the basement which meant painting, adding a pool table, designing a media room and creating a sports bar area that is perfect for gameday viewing parties.

“You come over, you sit down, you watch the football game,” said Faison, “maybe have a drink, talk and laugh and just have a good time. It’s just kind of the same feel like if you go to an actual sports bar.”

The high ceilings and finished basement give the home even more space than it looks like it has from the street.

“Everybody who comes to my house says, ‘I had no idea this house was this size looking from the outside,’” said Faison.
