Christmas isn’t the only gift-worthy holiday. In February, there were valentines to award, all year long there will be birthdays to celebrate and before you can blink, Mother’s and Fathers Day will be here to merit gifts as well. And don’t forget things like Teacher’s Appreciation Day, anniversaries and weddings, all of which deserve gifts too.
With so many gifts to be given, it’s helpful to have a few gift-giving tricks up your sleeve. My favorite can be summed up in two words: gift cards. Trouble is, a gift card can seem impersonal. The trick is to customize the way in which you present it.
A gift card to a favorite restaurant will always be appreciated and a fun way to present the card is in a food themed box. Taco, burger and hot dog themed designs can all be converted into containers that are perfect to present a restaurant gift card.
To create the hot dog and hamburger box, simply cut two of each design for the front and back of the box. Bind them together with a long strip of card stock with tabs on both sides and folds to follow the shape of the design. The taco is even easier. Cut out a large circular taco shell, double fold the spine (that will allow it to stand up) and fill it with faux tomatoes, meat, lettuce and cheese, all cut from colored paper.
Once each box has been created, drop in the gift card and you have the most unique “To-Go” container, ever. Create a number of these “To-Go Boxes” now and throughout the year all you need to do is purchase the restaurant gift card and tuck it inside the box for a completely custom and personal gift that is sure to be appreciated by any bride-to-be, birthday girl or good friend.
