Did Santa bring you a sweater that’s just not your style this Christmas? Or, perhaps someone gave you a pair of socks that you wouldn’t be caught dead in?
You're not alone. Nearly 500,000 people with unwanted CDs, DVDs, games and other goods traded them for cash within 48 hours after Christmas through Atlanta-based Decluttr, an online recommerce site.
Trade-ins were at a record high this holiday season, peaking at 4 p.m. Christmas Day and 3 p.m. on Dec. 26. The items are a good indication of what is declining in popularity, according to the startup, particularly for recording artist Adele, whose "21" is the most traded-in CD this holiday.
“It’s more than likely her recent come-back has encouraged music-lovers to invest in her new and improved sound,” Decluttr marketing director Liam Howley said.
