Many stores opened Thanksgiving night to give shoppers a head start on holiday deals, but trend-watchers say there are not any standout, must-have gifts that are might lead to mall fights.

That’s not to say there are not some trending toys, like anything related to “Star Wars.” Robotic pets are big this year, too.

Look for deals on heavy sweaters and winter coats; unseasonably warm weather has resulted in a surplus of warm clothes.

Although retail stores are feeling the squeeze due to changing shopper habits, with fourth-quarter profits expected to be less than had been anticipated, plenty of shoppers took the bait and lined up to start their traditional Black Friday shopping on Thursday.
