Superhero patients at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta fight scary accidents and illnesses every day.

Five-year-old Hudson Lillystone has faced a two-year battle against acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) at the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center at Children’s. When Hudson puts on her golden yellow cape, she becomes “Super Hudson” with a faithful sidekick: her IV pole named “Super Bernie,” who has his own superhero cape.

Hudson is joining Children's Healthcare of Atlanta to ask everyone in Atlanta to wear a cape Tuesday and share it using #CapeDayATL to show their support and be part of a message to patients that nothing is impossible when you're wearing a cape. Last year, thousands of people put on their capes, including members of the Atlanta Ballet, Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed and dozens of students, including some who made capes out of big sheets of paper.

The event is a sequel to last year's popular "Cape Day ATL," a city-wide celebration. This year's installment is being called, "Cape Day Part Two: 100 Years Strong" commemorating the health care system's 100th anniversary and a century of superheroes.

A limited number of Cetennial Capes selling for a $20 donation to Children’s sold out quickly. But Uber is lending a hand by by offering to deliver capes for free Tuesday. (Anyone ordering a free cape via the Uber app will also be able to make a donation to Children’s if they wish to do so.) Uber users who are in need of a cape can download the Uber app on Tuesday and request CAPEDAY to have a Centennial Cape delivered right to their door for Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. while supplies last. The capes are free to consumers. Uber will make a donation to Children’s for $20 per cape.
