SUCCESS STORY / Tcee Donely, 41: From 256 pounds to 189 pounds

Former weight: 256 pounds

Current weight: 189 pounds

Pounds lost: 67 pounds

Height: 5 feet 6 inches

Age: 41 years

How long she's kept it off: Started on May 3 and reached her current weight this month.

Personal life: "I work at AT&T, but I own my own business: Tcee Designs (www.instagram.com/tceedesigns). I have a passion for design. I'm also a tutor," Donely said. "I have one son who is 25 years old. … I am originally from the Bronx, New York, born and raised, and I moved to Georgia in 2006." She lives in Fairburn.

Turning point: "I am a type 2 diabetic. I have tried so many different weight-loss programs … and none of that was working — I just wasn't consistent," she said. With her blood sugar climbing, Donely's vision again became blurry. Seven years ago, unexplained worsening blurry vision led to a trip to the emergency room, where on the brink of a diabetic coma she was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. "This is amazing to be able to tell this story to know that seven years ago I might not have a story to tell," she said. In April, while searching Instagram, she saw the RI28 program (www.resultsin28days.com), started by Gee Bryant. "The program was May 3 to May 31. I am on insulin and I'm on Metformin — I have to take it for my diabetes. I inject myself three times per day," she said. At the end of the 28-day challenge, "not only did I lose 26 pounds, I was declared to no longer need insulin. Seven years I have been taking insulin. … In just 28 days, this program took me off of insulin."

Diet plan: "I normally eat five times per day," Donely said. "I have oatmeal in the morning and two egg whites or hard-boiled eggs. For the other four meals, I would eat either chicken breast and vegetables, or a salmon and some green vegetables."

Exercise routine: "I am exercising six days per week," she said. The exercises take seven minutes and 47 seconds. She does them back to back for a total of roughly 30 minutes.

Biggest challenge: "The biggest challenge is I have a lot on my plate — you've got to figure out when you're going to work out." Donely faces the challenge by working out first thing in the morning.

How life has changed: "Life has changed for me because I am healthy now and more healthy than I have ever been. … I have met a group of people who give phenomenal support, which is the RI28 members group. … I have stopped making excuses, and I realize that my health is more important than food. Here's my best advice: I tell people to fall in love with being healthy, not with losing weight. … Fall in love first with being healthy — when you do that, the weight comes off."
